デビュー45周年を記念してリリースされる、佐野元春&ザ・コヨーテバンドの新作『HAYABUSA JET II』。
2025年3月にリリースされ、記憶に残るヒットとなった『HAYABUSA JET I』の続編にあたる作品だ。
もはやセルフ・カバーではない。これは完全に最新形の新曲集であり、同時に代表曲を集めたベスト・アルバムのような魅力にもあふれている。全曲がまさに“ジャパニーズ・ロックの至宝”と言っていいだろう。
今回の新作で掲げたテーマは「元春クラシックスの再定義」。
自身のクラシックを新世代にプレゼンテーションするべく制作された、佐野らしい挑戦的なアルバムだ。常に新しい音楽表現を追い求めるその姿勢は、いまも変わらない。
レコーディング・エンジニアは渡辺省二郎。マスタリングには、ミューズ、コールドプレイ、ジェイムス・ブレイクなどを手がけるUKの敏腕エンジニア、マット・コルトン（Matt Colton）を起用。
近年のヒップホップやR&Bに匹敵する、重低音の解像度が高いモダン・ロック・サウンドに仕上がっている。
